Over the past few decades, there has been a rapid proliferation of eGovernance for Development projects. Drawing on evidence from three longitudinal case studies of rural eGovernance projects this book shows that improving systems of governance is fundamentally a social rather than managerial or technological activity.
SHIRIN MADON is a Senior Lecturer in Information Systems& Innovation at the LSE. Her teaching and research focuses on the social impact of ICTs in developing countries. Building on earlier longitudinal research on the role of IT for improving development planning in India, Shirin's field of intellectual inquiry now extends beyond IT in the government sector to broader issues of governance and development focusing on the role of ICTs in improving the living conditions of the rural poor.
