Brooke is a small town girl now living in Boston and working her way through school. But no matter how hard she works she's always broke. Frustrated, she thinks there has to be a better way. When she finds herself in a tight spot, a stranger offers her the money she needs for something he wants. Now Brooke knows there is a better way; the game of pay to play where money talks and sex is for sale.

“Run along,” he waggled his fingers at her. “Get in your car and either follow me or keep being a good little girl and go to work.”

Brooke gripped the top of the door, ready to slip out, but hesitated. She could, no she should, go to work. A six-hour shift at her low hourly rate and some tips, but not much because the early afternoons were slow. A tank of gas, laundry money and a couple of days’ worth of food.

Or three hundred dollars in books and cash for an hour of her time, but an hour spent on her knees and her back. The idea of having sex with someone she didn’t know had her both scared and disgusted.

She kept thinking of Royce, she’d been his first girl-for a while at least-and she couldn’t keep him satisfied, this was a grown ass man who paid for sex all the time, and she was sure those girls were very good at what they did.

Steve hadn’t come across as the nicest guy either with his crude remarks and making fun of her being naïve and nervous. What would he be like in bed? Brooke doubted he would be sweet, or even good to her.

Did she need him to be? He wasn’t her boyfriend after all. She could feel him staring at her, but he wasn’t saying anything. Brooke had no doubt he’d done this before, not just hookers, but propositioning girls like her. He could see her indecision and knew enough to stop pushing her.

But it was wrong!

But wasn’t her doing the right thing all the time, and getting repeatedly screwed over by life and for that matter the boy she’d loved, wrong as well? All doing the right thing now would do for her was keep her down.

If she-just this once-did the wrong thing, it would make things so much easier on her, at least for a few days. When was the last time she’d been able to get what she needed without worrying?

The answer was too long.

He was single, she was single, they weren’t hurting anyone, like he said, just two people getting what they needed. If you relax, you might even like it. Brooke doubted that; she’d never been completely comfortable with sex when it was with someone she loved. This was going to be demeaning and for money.

Brooke pulled the door closed and grabbing the seatbelt pulled it across her, her fingers shaking so badly she had trouble clicking it into the belt by her side.

“You sure?” Steve asked quietly. There was no trace of his former mocking tone, but she could hear the excitement in his voice.

Brooke kept her eyes straight ahead as she whispered.

“Money talks. Everything has a price.”
